An explosive lawsuit has been filed in Wayne County alleging police misconduct and exposing the world of confidential informants.

A confidential informant, known only as John Doe, claims in the summer of 2015, he was working with the Hamtramck Police Department and Highland Park Police Department’s auto theft unit to uncover fraud at area businesses.

As part of the deal, he was to receive compensation.

John Doe claims while assisting the detectives, he was ordered to illegally dump tires in Detroit in an effort to build a relationship with employees at a Hamtramck tire shop.

The confidential informant claims he witnessed an officer place $6,000 to $8,000 in his pocket during a raid at a dealership. The lawsuit also alleges detectives targeted Arab American businesses and used racial slurs.
