(WXYZ) — Senator Gary Peters has tested negative for COVID-19 Saturday.

The senator sought a test for the virus after having sat near Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Chairman and Senator Ron Johnson. Johnson announced his positive diagnosis Saturday.

According to a tweet from Peters, he took part in a meeting with Chairman Johnson on Wednesday. The senator also reported he feels fine and has not experienced any symptoms related to the virus.

My test was negative. I don't have symptoms and am feeling great. Out of an abundance of caution, I'll self-quarantine until October 14th. In the meantime, I'll keep doing my job, fighting for Michiganders, by working virtually from home. https://t.co/Ja1Vnwxfhj
