The Shelby Township Police Department is warning residents of a scam involving a fake profile of a Shelby PD officer.
According to a Facebook post, police say someone made a fake profile of Shelby PD Officer Jake Lukas. The profile includes a photo of Lukas and includes his employment information with the police department.
However, police say the profile is asking folks for money via Facebook Messenger.
According to a series of screenshots, the fake Lukas profile tells people that he's ready to help, and pitches investments to those who respond.
Additionally, Shelby PD said in a tweet that an out-of-country account posted its phone number last week, and warned of scam phone calls.
