Is the world ready for the AirPod?
On Wednesday -- along with revealing the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus -- Apple introduced its new wireless headphones: AirPods.
The headphones are a new kind of accessory born out of the vanishing act by the headphone jack in the latest iPhone models.
AirPods, Apple says, connect to your devices thanks to a special Apple-designed W1 chip.
Sensors reportedly detect when the AirPod is in your ear and can pause or start your music accordingly -- and dual microphones help wearers answer calls or talk to Siri, according to the company.
These headphones of the future will cost about $160 when they go on sale in October.
But just as quickly as they were introduced, came the side-eye from social media.

AirPod earbuds are fine, I guess, but I still prefer Air Bud. He's got that golden touch. pic.twitter.com/d7ndI5L2Fl
