TRENTON, Mich. (WXYZ) — 7 Action News is getting results after confusion and chaos at a bridal shop on Trenton.

Future bride, Chelsea Perez, said she received her bridal gown over the weekend after she shopped with reporter Rudy Harper. Perez said, the owner gave her the wedding gown out of layaway without charging her for the rest of the balance.

She said she paid nearly $1,000 for the $1,700 dress.

Perez said yes to the dress in front of family and friends last year at Bridal: The Perfect Dress shop.

"It was the fourth dressed I tried on," Perez said. "I just knew it was the one."

Perez said she put the dress on layaway and had nearly half of it paid off ahead of her June 2020 wedding date.

On Friday, she went to the store after hearing it was closing on social media. She said an employee confirmed the store would shut down operations, and she claims the employee broke down in tears.

"She [employee] feels likes she's being attacked by all the brides because she's the only one that's been here," Perez said, "And that's when we're like 'what's going on, what do we do with our dresses?'"

Action News contacted the owner and received a text stating, “We have a few locations in mind we are working out the lease agreements. So, when I feel my business is your business I will keep you posted."

The owner declined an on-camera interview.

Perez said other brides showed up to the store also searching for answers. The added stress Perez said is overwhelming.

"I will probably never do business here again," Perez said.
