Southfield church offering drive-through blessings for pets

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WXYZ) — A Southfield church wants to give your pet a blessing.

St. David's Episcopal Church wants to give your pet a blessing, since Oct. 4 marks the annual Feast of St. Francis who was known for being kind to animals.

From 7 a.m. to 6 pm. Friday, robed ministers will help in blessing your pet and distributing pet treats and prayer cards.

"For many of us our pets can be closer than our relatives." Said Fr. Chris Yaw, Rector of St. David's. "We want to see our pets thrive and prosper and asking God's blessing upon them is one way we can do so."

Motorists can travel up the church driveway until the reach the station for blessings by the front doors of the church. Motorists may stay in their cars while their pets receive a blessing.
