SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WXYZ) — A Southfield staffing company is looking to hire 500 substitute teachers to start working in the metro Detroit area as soon as possible.

Industry Specific Staffing needs teachers to start immediately for 2019-2020 school year. The company says massive teacher shortages have heightened the demand for "qualified substitute teachers" to cover classrooms in the tri-county area.

Their memo reads:

You do NOT have to be a certified teacher to substitute teach in Michigan! New State Requirements are that applicants need 60 or more credit hours (previously 90) from an accredited college or university. Applicants must also pass a background check, and have some experience working with children/teens in a group setting (Volunteer, church, and camp experience count as well as classroom teaching and student teaching).

Interviews are taking place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m Monday through Friday. Interested candidates can drop by their office located at 24901 Northwestern Hwy in Southfield or email resumes to teachingjobs@isscompanies.com.
