Springtime in Michigan often offers a roller coaster of temperatures and bouts of rain and even snow. Spring weather did not come early for metro Detroit despite what our furry prognosticators predicted.

So far, March has been colder and drier-than-average, but the 6-10 day outlook shows a modest warm-up and wetter pattern brewing for the first full week of spring. Average high temperatures rise into the low 50s by the end of the month with lows above freezing (34°). The Climate Prediction Center shows this upswing in temperatures and precipitation continuing into the beginning of April, as well.

Overall, the weather pattern for the spring season (April, May and June) looks a bit more vague. The Climate Prediction Center is showing equal chances, which means there is no clear cut pattern shifting temperatures or precipitation either way, above or below average during the 3 Month Outlook. However, there is a big climb in average highs from 48° on the first day of spring to a warm 81° in mid June.

Regardless of the weather, one sure sign of spring is baseball. And, you can bet we will be watching the weather closely for the Tigers Home Opener on April 4th!
