Volunteers and donors are gearing up to Brave the Shave on Sunday at Plymouth Roc. The annual event is a fundraiser for St. Baldrick's Foundation, which helps fund childhood cancer research.

"There is nothing more important than getting out and taking action when those of us who are hurting need help and nobody could hurt more than a little child who’s got cancer,” says Robb Drzewicki, St. Baldrick's volunteer.

According to the American Cancer Society, cancer is the second leading cause of death in children. This year alone, more than 10,000 kids under 15-years-old will be diagnosed.

"I can’t imagine people not wanting to help these kids. It’s an amazing feeling and experience to be surrounded by so much love,” says Jordan West, who owns Plymouth Roc.

"We always use fight and battle when adults have cancer, but when it’s a kid we don’t use those words as often because it’s more sad," adds Drzewicki.

So far, the organization has raised more than $65,000, but the goal this year is $82,000 so they still need donations.

The Brave the Shave event is May 15, 2016 at Plymouth Roc. The fundraiser is from noon - 5 p.m.
