The Arab American National Museum is featuring an exhibit on St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and its founder Danny Thomas.
Thomas was born in Deerfield, Michigan, near Monroe, and moved to Detroit to pursue an acting career. After struggling to catch a break, he prayed about it.
"He was broke and didn’t know when his next paycheck was going to come and he stopped into a church in Detroit and prayed to St. Jude and the next day he was granted a paying gig and he basically said he would build a shrine to St. Jude,” says Matthew Jaber Stiffler, research and content manager at the Arab American National Museum.
