(WXYZ) — Michigan State Police were able to arrest a suspect involved in an alleged kidnapping and assault involving a woman and two children Wednesday afternoon.

The woman called 911 Wednesday afternoon to report that she and her two children were being held against their will by a man before the call dropped. They were traveling on I-96 around 2:15 p.m.

Metro South troopers spotted the vehicle and tried making a stop as the vehicle was traveling east on I-96 near Grand River. Officers say the 28-year-old Canton man began driving at slow speeds but didn't stop. He then got onto westbound I-94, where troopers were able to conduct a no-contact rolling roadblock and arrest the suspect and free the victims.

The suspect was arrested. Officers later learned that he had a warrant out for his arrest relating to aggravated assault for domestic violence out of Oakland County.
