Eastbound Hall Road from Schoenherr to Garfield will be closed for several hours Saturday as protesters march in honor of the death of George Floyd.

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office released a statement saying it will work with local police departments to protect protesters.

The protest is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. and will end at 6:30 p.m. and will go from The Golden Corridor in Sterling Heights and make its way east down Hall Road to Macomb Community college in Clinton Township.

People participating in the march are asked to park at Lakeside Mall and walk over to Olive Garden in Lakeside Circle, where the march will begin.

Speakers and community leaders will address the crowd at Macomb Community College. Busses will provide protesters with transport back to their vehicles at the Lakeside Mall parking lot.

The Sheriff’s Office has asked people not to return to their cars on foot as the roadway will be re-opened to vehicles once the march ends.

“Do not let poor behavior overshadow the power of your message. I hope that the residents of Macomb County can be an example to other communities and can come together peacefully in an effort to show what they strongly believe in,” said Sheriff Anthony Wickersham.
