West Bloomfield firefighters put out a structure fire in the area of Greer and Hiller Roads early Thursday.
Officials say the homeowner discovered the fire in a trash can where used fireworks had been placed Wednesday night.
There were no injuries as a result of the fire.
The fire department says to make sure never to place used fireworks with other combustibles, and it is always a good idea to soak them in water before placing them in the garbage.
