There's one subject in school that negatively affects more students than you think: bullying.

Ahead of the upcoming school year, WalletHub released a study showing the states across the country with the biggest bullying problems.

Michigan ranks as the worst.

The study looked at 17 key metrics including bullying-incident rate and percentage of high school students bullied online. It also looked at the number of anti-bullying laws in place.

Michigan ranked in the top five for highest percentage of high school students bullied on school property and highest percentage of high school students bullied online.

More on the study here.

You can see each ranking by hovering over the state. Colorado, Iowa, Minnesota, Oregon and Washington were excluded from the study because of data limitations, according to WalletHub.
