(WXYZ) — A new trend among millennials is giving Christmas tree farmers plenty of holiday cheer this year.
According to a new report from payment processing company "Square Inc.," millennials are buying real Christmas trees instead of fake ones. The date was taken from one over 1,000 live tree sellers.
The report found that sales increased by 10 percent this year compared to last year.
Artificial trees were still the most popular, according to the report. But more millennials are opting for real Christmas trees, which is helping tree farmers stay in business.
