DETROIT (WXYZ) — The average rent for a Detroit apartment is $1,071, according to a new report from Rent Cafe.
It is $29 higher than this time last year.
In Michigan, the most expensive rent was found in Allendale, with an average of $1,611, followed by Ann Arbor, where the average rent in $1,582.
The national average rent is $1,463, up 3 percent compared to the same time last year.
The data for the report comes from competitively-rented multifamily properties via telephone survey.
The cheapest city to rent an apartment is in Flint, Rent Cafe said, with an average of $629.
