"I thought it was a joke," said the owner of the Little Brown Jug Liquor store in Roseville about the moment two masked men came in, armed with a gun, telling him to be quiet. But it only took seconds for John Faranso and his best friend who was behind the counter with him to realize their lives were on the line.

One of the two masked men jumped onto the counter, waving his gun, and that's when Faranso's best friend quickly pulled out his own firearm and fired off a few shots.

It happened around 9 p.m. Thursday night on Gratiot Avenue, south of 696.

The masked men ran back outside the store and were last seen running northwest through the parking lot, heading in the direction of Wildwood.

Roseville Police believe the two assailants left the area in a vehicle. There's no description of that vehicle.

Anyone with any information is urged to call Roseville Police at (586) 775-2100.
