Hundreds of people are starting their day early with a walk to end breast cancer.

Today marks the opening ceremony for the Susan G. Komen Michigan 3-Day event.

Participants will walk 60 miles over the next three days raising important awareness and funds for research. Each walker has raised $2,300.

Since 2004, this one event in southeast Michigan has raised more than $56 million for the fight to end breast cancer. The walk will get started right after the 7 a.m. opening ceremony. The walk will continue through Novi, Plymouth, Northville and Dearborn.

If you aren't able to walk these 60 miles or raise money you can still help by cheering on the participants.

There are five public cheering station locations set up.
