Grosse Pointe Farms police have arrested a suspect wanted in the stabbing attack on 69-year-old Daniel Clancy.

The suspect is reportedly someone who once worked for the successful interior designer.

Clancy remains in critical condition at a local hospital.

Police confirm that Clancy's attacker tried to bind him with duct tape. A roll of duct tape and droplets of blood were found on the floor of Clancy's kitchen.

Sunday around 4:30 pm, Clancy was found outside his mansion, bleeding with stab wounds to his neck.

When officers entered the home to search for other victims or any assailant, they found Clancy's white poodle, Alex.

The dog was not injured and is now being cared for by a friend.

It's unclear if Clancy's attacker was already in the house or ambushed him when he returned home from shopping Sunday afternoon. But a source says the attacker wanted Clancy dead because they knew he could identify them.

Investigators have not ruled out the involvement of accomplices.
