Suspect charged in Harper Woods home invasion, armed robbery

HARPER WOODS, Mich. (WXYZ) — Police have arrested 27-year-old Michael Bernard Hudson, who is accused of breaking into a home in Harper Woods and robbing a 74-year-old woman on April 19.

According to authorities, the alleged home invasion and robbery happened at 3:30 p.m. in the 18600 block of Old Homestead.

Hudson allegedly broke into the victim's home and stole money from her at knifepoint. The suspect then fled on foot toward Kelly Road after pushing the elderly woman down.

The victim was able to call police. Officers and police K-9 responded to the area and eventually found the suspect hiding in a garage in Detroit, west of Kelly Road.

The victim sustained minor injuries.

Hudson was arraigned and charged with armed robbery and first-degree home invasion. A preliminary exam is scheduled for May 8. Hudson faces up to life in prison.
