PORT HURON (WXYZ) — Port Huron police say the suspect in the June 23 homicide on the former Navy vessel Grayfox is believed to be in Detroit.

Reginald Cu-Nu Grasty was originally called a person of interest in the case, but he is now being called a suspect. Port Huron police say the public should consider him to be dangerous.

Grasty was a caretaker on the vessel, and police last had contact with him in January 2020. He's currently homeless. He has lived in Port Huron but is now believed to be in the Detroit area.

The victim in the June 23 homicide has been identified by St. Clair County Medical Examiners as William Michael Orlow, 44, of Port Huron.

Tracey Orlow is the victim’s wife. She lives in Nashville with their 12-year-old son. She tells 7 Action News the police waited too long to ask the public for help after they identified Reginald Gratsey as a person of interest almost six months ago.

“I just feel like so much more should be done right now,” Tracey said.

She says police told her that her husband was killed and dismembered and stuffed into a non-working freezer on board the ship in Port Huron. She says they believed he had been there seven months. She helped identify him by his tattoos.

Tracey says her family needs this guy caught and the case brought to justice, “especially (for) my son. He deserves this, he needs the closure. He asks me all the time, and therefore I know he probably stays Googling it.”

Police were dispatched to the Grayfox, 60 Griswold Street, on June 23, for a deceased person. A June 25 autopsy found that the victim's cause of death was trauma-related.
