A teen accused of accidentally shooting two Detroit police officers will head to trial on those charges.

Juwan Plummer, 19, is charged two counts each of Intentional Discharge of a Firearm in a Building Causing Serious Injury; Intentional Discharge of a Firearm in a Building Causing Injury, Felonious Assault. He has also been charged with four counts of Felony Firearm.

He appeared for a preliminary exam in court on Friday afternoon as a judge heard testimony about the case.

The officers were responding to a report of attempted break-ins at a home across the street on April 16. Plummer's father said he thought the officers were burglars so he fired a warning shot.

During the preliminary exam, one of the officers took the stand.

That judge determined there was enough evidence to send Plummer to trial.

"This defendant acted unreasonably in firing a shot without looking to see what he was shooting at, who he was shooting at," Judge Kenneth King said during the hearing.

King also said that he believes Plummer and the defense team have a valid argument for self defense, but that's not for him to decide.
