Teen asks for help bringing alleged child predator to justice

EASTPOINTE, Mich. (WXYZ) — Do you know where Daniel LaFaive is? Eastpointe Police say he is wanted for criminal sexual conduct and his victims are children.

One of the alleged victims is speaking out asking for your help getting justice.

“I thought he was going to kill my mom and my brother and her boyfriend,” said the young girl, whose name we are withholding.

She says she was only 12-years-old when it happened in 2017. It started when she and other kids from school went to the house of a man who lived on Rein Street in Eastpointe. Their parents thought they were somewhere else.

“He was giving little girls alcohol, money, cigarettes, weed,” said the girl’s mom of what she learned.

The kids said they thought thought he was a friend. Then he allegedly started touching some of them inappropriately.

“My friend, he was touching her too and saying stuff too,” said the girl.

She says when she tried to stand up for herself, he threatened her. He saw here outside and grabbed a screwdriver from his pocket in such a manner as to intimidate her.

“He pulled out a screwdriver and said this is for your family if you tell anyone,” she said.

Her mom noticed something was wrong, but the then 12-year-old didn’t want to confide what happened at the time. She said she felt ashamed. Her mom urged her to share whatever was bothering her with someone, even if it was not her. She suggested she talk to a teacher, counselor, or police. The teen agreed to speak to police.

Friday Eastpointe Police posted his picture on their Facebook page. They say the warrant out for LaFaive's arrest is for two counts of criminal sexual conduct in the second and the fourth degree.

“I don’t buy for a second they are the first and they won’t be the last,” said the girl’s mom.

“I don’t want anyone else going through the situation I went through. It is horrifying. It is scary,” said the girl.
