DETROIT (WXYZ) — Detroit police are on the scene where a 16-year-old boy was shot by a 39-year-old man after the teen's dog allegedly charged at the older man's dog.
The shooting occurred in the 19200 block of Bentler on the city's west side Wednesday at 6:50 p.m.
According to a preliminary investigation, Detroit police say the shooter was barbecuing in front of his home when a pit bull charged at his German Shepard that was tied up.

At some point during the incident, the teen, who owns the pit bull, was shot by the 39-year-old.
The shooter is now in custody and a weapon has been recovered.
The teen victim was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. Police are still investigating.
