Southfield police are asking people to be on alert after a 16-year-old student was reportedly solicited for sex as she was walking to school.

The incident happened on Tuesday around 8:45 a.m.

Police say the teen was walking northbound on Evergreen near Midway Street, on her way to Southfield Regional Academy, when a driver pulled up next to her and started a conversation.

The man then reportedly asked the girl if she wanted to make money, and when she inquired, the man told her "sex."

Police say she then walked away from the driver.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 40-50 years old with salt and pepper hair, and a thin build. He was reportedly wearing a beige coat and gray slacks.

The vehicle is described as a new car, black 4-door with silver handles.

Anyone with information is asked to call Southfield police at 248-796-5500.
