The Dearborn Police Department is warning residents about phone scam artists who claim to be from government agencies.
Investigators say the scammers request payments for fines, taxes and other collections.
Government agencies rarely, if ever, communicate via email, telephone or social media.
If you receive a fraudulent call, be sure to request an in person meeting to discuss the matter. Use a local police department as the meeting location.
Do not hesitate to call the police if you are approached in person by someone claiming to be a government agent.
