BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. (WXYZ) — If you're in the market for a piece of music royalty, Aretha Franklin's home in Bloomfield Hills is on the market. For $1.2 million you can own one of the former homes of the Queen of Soul.

"It’s got a beautiful new look but it still captures the essence of the one and only Aretha Franklin," said Sharon Johnson with the Micheal team.

If you’ve ever wanted to own a piece of music royalty this is your chance.

"Who else can say that they have a home that Aretha occupied," Johnson said. "I mean, this is her special place."

Even Aretha Franklin's red iconic piano was moved from her Detroit home to her house in Bloomfield Hills. This home is on the market for $1.2 million and is tucked away in a quiet gated community. Franklin hasn’t lived in the home for decades.

"I can tell you that whoever gets this home will have a very special home. It was special to her and I’m sure it will be special to the new buyer as well," Johnson said.

The home has a total of 7,000 square feet and features five bedrooms, five-and-a-half bathrooms, overlooks a common pool and two ponds. Not to mention it has a gourmet kitchen.

"It’s been beautifully re-done as far as cabinets and it’s got the original stove and she cooked here right in this kitchen," Johnson said.

Aretha’s personal touch is still seen throughout the home. From extra large cedar walk-in closets and the chandelier over her dining room table to beautiful rose etchings on her master bathroom shower doors.

"Marble shower that she used and this is the original tub as well," Johnson said.

The home is back in the market after some renovations and is ready to be purchased by that one person who wants to live like the Queen did.

"I think it’s for a distinguished buyer who wants to really have a touch of music history, a touch of the Queen of Soul and live in a place she lived in," Johnson said.
