The Westin Book Cadillac was evacuated overnight after people reported hearing several small explosions in downtown Detroit.

DTE Energy confirms that an underground power cable failed causing an "explosive noise" in the area of Michigan Avenue and Washington Boulevard around 12:30 a.m.

Hundreds of people were on the streets near the Westin’s entrance as crews investigated, but they were allowed to go back inside around 2 a.m.

Some of the guests said the sound woke them up.

No injuries or reports of damage at this time.
