Detroit police are investigating a church break-in on the city’s west side.

It happened at Whitlock Memorial Church of God in Christ in the 6000 block of Epworth.

It’s suspected the thieves were attempting to steal expensive musical equipment but there were unsuccessful.

Church officials told 7 Action News the intruders used a brick to smash the stained glass windows and climb inside.

It is believed the thieves did not expect an extra secured, bulleted proof second set of doors keeping the equipment protected.

The intruders set off the alarm when they left through the church’s front entrance.

They escaped with about $100 worth of cakes and chips.
