The Christmas tree is the centerpiece of just about every Christmas scene.

Many believe a live tree adds to the sights and smells of the holidays.

We asked our Channel 7 viewers for the best places to buy a live Christmas tree in our Thursday's Top 7.

7. Addison-Oaks Christmas Tree Farm - Oakland Township

Addison-Oaks Christmas Tree Farm in Oakland Township comes in seventh on our list of best spots to find a live tree.

The 20-acre farm lies between Bald Mountain State Recreation area and Addison Oaks County Park, so owners say don't be shocked if you see deer or wild turkeys on your visit.

6. The Henry Ford / Greenfield Village - Dearborn

At the Henry Ford Holiday Greens & Tree lot in Dearborn, you can visit history and nab a Christmas tree while you're there. It's number 6 on our list. All of the trees here are balsam firs.. cut just for The Henry Tord. Sales here are open to the public, so there no admission fees.

5. Broadview Christmas Tree Farm - Highland Township

For number 5 on our list, we go to Highland Township and Broadview Christmas Tree Farm. The same family has farmed this land since 1849. You can pick and cut your own tree or buy a pre-cut tree. On weekends, you're invited to visit Santa and his reindeer and the live animals in the petting zoo.

4. Eastern Market - Detroit

Detroit's Eastern Market is home to four tree lots. We stopped by Huron View Tree Farms and caught up with Matt Wyszczelski, who is looking for his family's next live tree.

"Live Christmas tree feels traditional. We've always had one for the whole time I've been together with my wife and our family and our kids have always had a natural tree," says Wyszczelski.

Weekends here are hopping when the sheds are open.

3.. Waldock Tree Farm - Howell

In third place, we go to Howell and Waldock Tree Farm. Customers say the selection of trees is great with sizes up to 16 feet. They say the homemade doughnuts and hot chocolate help you warm up from the cold, too!

2. Blake's Orchard & Cider Mill - Armada

Blake's Orchard in Armada may be known for their apples and cider, but they do Christmas right, too. They come in the second spot on our list

Blake's sells pre-cut and u-cut Christmas trees and has a holiday market. The hard cider and winery tasting room is also open all winter.

1. Candy Cane Christmas Tree Farm - Oxford

In the top spot is Candy Cane Christmas Tree Farm in Oxford. They're set apart by their focus on the environment. In fact, they've been designated an environmentally friendly farm by the Michigan Christmas Tree Association. They've even created a re-useable living Christmas tree

If you're still looking for a tree, the Michigan Christmas Tree Association has a new label - "Michigan Snowfresh." They say the tag is reserved for the best Michigan grown trees.

All Michigan Snowfresh trees are cleaned, baled and stored in a covered area within 72 hours of cutting to preserve their freshness and are US #1 grade or better.

But before you head out to any Michigan tree farms, call ahead. Many farms are at or close to the harvest limit and are winding down for the season.
