More spacious seating could soon be on the way for air travelers.
The Federal Aviation Administration just announced that it's planning to test to see if shrinking seat sizes on airplanes are safe.
The 12 days of live testing will take place sometime next month with 720 volunteers.
The group will simulate emergency evacuations to see if different amounts of legroom impact evacuation time. According to federal regulations, an evacuation should take no longer than 90 seconds.
The FAA will use the test results to come up with new seat space standards.
