TROY, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 16-year-old Troy teen was arrested over the holidays after police found marijuana and other tools in his vehicle.

On Dec. 27 around 3 a.m., a Troy police officer saw a suspicious vehicle parked in a lot after hours. When the officer approached the black 2009 Dodge Caravan, the driver put the car in reverse and began driving away.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and saw the driver hit the curb multiple times before stopping, as well as observed "furtive moments inside the vehicle."

He approached the vehicle and spoke to the 16-year-old male driver and 15-year-old female passenger. The 16-year-old admitted there was marijuana in the car when the officer asked.

The officer found tubes labeled "Fwaygo Extracts 500 MG Cannabis Oil" in the center console. Some tubes still contained oil. He also found a pop can with a plastic lid on top containing the suspected marijuana, a digital scale and weed grinder.

The 16-year-old male driver was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana under age 21. He was released to his mother's custody, who signed a petition and agreed to bring the teen to Juvenile Court.

The 15-year-old female passenger was taken home and placed in her father's custody.
