(WXYZ) — Hundreds of Trump supporters from metro Detroit and Michigan were at the U. S. Capitol yesterday during the chaos and they’re speaking out.

One group spoke with 7 Action News while on a bus coming home to Macomb County.

Genevive Peters is a Trump grassroots organizer who has led Stop the Steal rallies in D.C., Detroit, and Lansing. She says the streets around the capitol were filled with thousands of Trump Patriots who held a peaceful protest while Congress was taking steps to certify the Electoral Vote for Joe Biden.

Peters says, “we’ve only just begun.”

This group stayed on the steps of the capitol and Peters says they were tear-gassed several times.

Yesterday made ugly history with rioting, breaching the capitol, and taking over the desk of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi by a Trump supporter from Arkansas. Peters says they don’t condone that.

Many Trump supporters say the people causing the serious trouble are members of ANTIFA. But law enforcement has not verified those claims as they continue investigating and issuing charges.
