DETROIT (WXYZ) - Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged four teenage boys in connection with the carjacking of an 88-year-old man who is a decorated Tuskegee Airman.
Jesse Rutledge, who battled racial prejudice and fought a war for his country, says he feared for his life when teenagers carjacked him.
Jesse Rutledge says he was leaving a barbershop near Harper and Van Dyke on Saturday when the guys came out of an abandoned building and ambushed him.
One of the carjackers was just 13-years-old.
With a gun pointed at his face, Rutledge complied and handed over the keys to his 1999 Jeep Cherokee.
The teens took off, but police were able to track them down and arrest them.
For the decorated war hero, who spent time as a gunner aboard a B-25, Rutledge says he's just happy no one was hurt.
The teens are scheduled for a preliminary hearing today at the Juvenile Detention Center in Detroit.
