(WXYZ) — In tonight's 7 UpFront segment we're taking a closer look at how the pandemic is affecting cities in metro Detroit.

It can be seen in everything from rising unemployment, to the extra toll on hospitals and even getting your children the education they need, while protecting them from the virus.

Mount Clemens Mayor Laura Kropp is joining us to talk about it.

You can see the full interview in the video player above.

"Like most communities in the area, and throughout the world really, it's really, I would say, upended everything that we know and upended how we operate in our city and within our businesses, but from that, we've all learned to do business a little differently, many of our small businesses like our retails have been using the internet much more than they were and our restaurants are anxious to get back to having people within their doors this week," Kropp says.

"I would say that we've learned one really key lesson and that is collaboration," she says.
