(WXYZ) — In tonight's 7 UpFront we're looking into the efforts to resettle dozen of refugees from Afghanistan who are preparing to call Michigan home after the chaos engulfed their war-torn country following the US troop withdrawal that ended the war.

We're being joined by the Chief Advancement Officer for Samaritas Kelli Dobner to talk about it.

You can see the full interview in the video player above.

"The situation changes daily as far as we know how many refugees are coming into our care at any given time," Dobner says. "Right now, the families that were staying on the bases when they first arrived in this country are just getting out of their quarantine period and starting to come into Michigan. So, we've had 54 come into the state so far, about 30 or so have come into Samaritas's care across the state. So, we're expecting those numbers to start increasing rapidly, starting this week and, certainly, in the weeks that follow, through the end of this year and beyond."
