BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — What sounds like a horrifying call to report a sexual assault in Bloomfield Township turned out to be a swatting prank.
Around 8 p.m. Sunday, police received a call from a woman who was hysterically crying, saying she was sexually assaulted at a house party at an address on Sutters Lane.
Police raced to the reported address, but all they found was a house for sale and no evidence of a big party.
Officers believe it was a swatting call, aimed at getting them to respond to a false incident that sounded extremely convincing.
Police say such calls not only put lives in danger, but they also take resources away from real emergencies.
