ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Mich. (WXYZO — Officials have announced a flood warning along the St. Clair River. The warning will remain in effect until 10 a.m. Wednesday and is due to heavy ice jams.

Now after numerous calls from residents about flooding, coast guards in the U.S. and Canada are working together to address the issue. They ask that resident contact their local emergency managers, who will put reports through to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the coast guard to address in the "most efficient manner," a release states.

The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Bristol Bay and the Canadian Coast Guard Ship Griffon have been doing icebreaking operations throughout the day Tuesday in an attempt to ease flooding.

The Canadian ship ended icebreaking on Tuesday around 8:30 p.m., but will resume Wednesday at 6 a.m. The U.S. ship is on overnight duty and is staged in Algonac, Michigan.
