Social media users are taking to sites like Twitter to vent their frustration about Facebook being down.
The outage appears to be affecting the Facebook owned Instagram, as well.
At this point it's not clear why the sites are down. A check by a 7 Action News producer who tried to log in to Facebook found a message saying the site was down for maintenance.
For their part, Facebook released the following statement:
Earlier today, a technical issue caused some people to have trouble accessing Facebook services. We quickly investigated and are currently restoring service for everyone. We’re sorry for any inconvenience.
