Vanessa Williams is paying Motown a visit, all for a good cause. She is in Detroit for Goodwill's Harmony and Hope concert March 9.

She said, "The best feeling is to give back."

Vanessa Williams toured Goodwill's North End Career Center in Detroit.

She is meeting with folks participating in the Flip the Script program.

"Talking about their journeys and working through their struggles and their histories through creative writing, through spirituality, through the tools that they need to make their lives better."

Flip the Script helps people get on the right path by navigating them towards a successful career.

Williams will be performing at Motor City casino tonight to raise money for the program.

She wanted to see the work in action.

"It's one thing to hear but when you come and see and listen to the stories and shake the hands and see the difference that it has made in their lives, it's very encouraging."

Flip the Script graduate Ingrid Young explained, "Finance classes, we learned how to do a resume, personal development classes."

Ingrid says the singer's support makes all the difference.

"A public figure is a good way to get notoriety and sometimes that's all we need," she added. "She is well rounded and that's why I think she is a great fit."

The actress plans to express her personal journey through her music.

"To have people that know my music and sing along to 'Save the Best for Last,' 'The Sweetest Day,' or 'Colors of the Wind' from Pocahontas, and to see the connection people have to the work that I do, that's my reward."
