The Detroit Historical Museum is celebrating with a Vernor's exhibit and an anniversary party Saturday!

Joel Stone is the Senior Curator with Detroit Historical Society.

"This is absolutely nothing but fun," he said. "For a company to be around for 150 years, especially a soda pop company this is a wonderful thing."

The museum is hosting a 150th Anniversary party Saturday.

"Some of the Vernor's family is coming by the museum," Stone added. "I would encourage people to come early and stay late. It's going to be a lot of fun," said Keith Wunderlich.

He is the founder of the Vernor's Ginger Ale club.

"Vernor's is special in Detroit," Wunderlich explained. "Vernor's is part of everybody's story, like my dad dated my mom at the Vernor's soda fountain. Every other Friday it was a date at Vernor's. And everybody has a family story like that."

He offered some of his collectibles to be displayed.

"Dispenser from the 1940's down there. Some great cardboard advertisement from the 1940's. Some old bottles. Different type of advertising," Wunderlich added.

Wunderlich will be at the party selling floats and Boston coolers to raise money for a Vernor's historical plaque.

"They cost $4,200 before installation so we are looking to raise $5,000. So Vernor's can be honored like it should be."

And you can take home a Vernor's souvenir at the gift shop. The 150th anniversary party is Saturday at 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
