DETROIT (WXYZ) — Detroit police have arrested one person involved in a 3-vehicle crash on Detroit's east side.

On March 9 around 9:37 p.m., a 39-year-old suspect was driving blue 2019 Dodge Charger when he was rear-ended by a white 2011 Lincoln, driven by a 41-year-old woman and and 14-year-old passenger.

The collision happened in the area of Van Dyke and Merkel.

Police say the Lincoln then struck a gray 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix occupied by a 30-year-old male driver and 28-year-old woman.

Witnesses say they tried to help two women out of one of the cars before emergency crews arrived.

Medics took the 41-year-old, 14-year-old, 30-year-old and 28-year-old all to a local hospital in stable condition, police say.

The suspect was arrested at the scene and taken to the Detroit Detention Center for operating while intoxicated, according to police.

The circumstances surrounding this incident are still being investigated.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detroit Police Department’s Eleventh Squad at 313-596-1140 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak-Up.
