Huntington Bank in Warren is offering a $20,000 reward for information on a bank robber who reportedly doused a clerk with gasoline Tuesday morning.

Police said a man entered the bank on 10 Mile and Schoenherr roads just before 10a.m. this morning and asked to open a checking account.

He then demanded money and sprayed the clerk with gasoline from a water bottle, police said, threatening to light her on fire if she didn’t give him the money.

The clerk ran into a room and locked the door. That’s when the manager emptied the drawers and filled the robber’s black duffel bag with about $4,000 in cash, according to police.

The bank robber ran north on Schoenherr and reportedly left some evidence behind at a nearby gas station.

The bank clerk was not injured.

Bank employees described the robber as black, 20-30 years old, 120 pounds and wearing gray sweatpants, a black hoodie and a black puffy vest. The robber was wearing medical gauze on his face to alter his appearance, a gray baseball hat and a glove only on his right hand.

Police say they aren't sure whether the suspect was armed with a gun.

The FBI has joined the Warren police in the manhunt. Anyone with information is asked to call the Warren Police Department at (586) 574-4700.
