The mother of 21-year-old Byron Johnson says she is relieved all six men accused of her son's murder are behind bars, but she's devastated by the loss of her son.

“My heart is so heavy so heavy I don’t wish this on nobody,” said Catina McCain.

McCain says Byron was a twin and had three older siblings.

“He joked, he was irritating, but that’s Byron, that’s how Byron won your heart. He would get on your nerves but at the end of the day he gonna always tell you he loves you,” McCain said.

Johnson was shot and killed outside Da Shop Barber Shop in Warren on Saturday afternoon. Police say a fight over a broken car-door handle escalated into a senseless murder.

On Thursday, 35-year-old Curtis Brown was arraigned on charges of first-degree murder and felony firearm, second offense. Warren Police say Brown shot Johnson in the head and neck.

“It’s immediately apparent your honor that he is not prepared to function in society," said a detective with the Warren Police Department to Judge Michael Chupa. "He’s a danger to society. He is a professional criminal and he will not hesitate to kill.”

Judge Chupa set Brown’s bond at $2 million.

Another man, 22-year-old Raymond Jones, is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon. Judge Chupa set his bond at $250,000.

“I’m just going to stay strong and just keep believing in the man upstairs going to take care of me cause this is very hard,” McCain said.

The family of Johnson has started a GoFund Me page.
