The "largest number of officers ever out on the streets" will be deployed on the Fourth of July to enforce fireworks safety, according to Warren Mayor Jim Fouts.
The effort was put in place to combat those who discharge fireworks under the influence and those who block city streets.
Fouts stated that he will also be out in the streets with the Warren Task Force Command Officer patrolling the streets.
According to a release, in addition to the normal police patrols, there will also be two special squads out. The teams will be deployed to hot spots.
On Tuesday, there were 15 complaints regarding fireworks in the city of Warren, resulting in five tickets issued. Fouts said that that is an improvement over past years for July 3.
"I'm hopeful that everyone will demonstrate common sense and common courtesy tonight," Fouts said. "That hopefully will result in a minimum of problems tonight."
Fouts added that he expects that courtesy to be extended to those with pets, small children, those with PTSD, elderly, children with special needs and those who have to work early the next morning.
