Wayne County snow plow drivers hit the road early Wednesday to tackle snow-covered roads.

"We thought we would make it through a mild winter, but we will see what happens today," said driver Ken Roemmelt.

His name sounds like "road melt" which is appropriate since he has been driving plows for 25 years.

"So far so good, the temperature is in our favor, everything seems to be melted and turned into slush."

Ken had hopes to sneak away into Spring without having to battle a brutal winter.

"This is the first time this year we actually had our plows on our trucks," he said.

Some Wayne County plows have cameras hooked up to the trucks and feed live video on Wayne County Compass here: http://www.compass.waynecounty.com

"I've heard a lot of people do watch it, they can get online and watch."

When asked what are some of Ken's biggest pet peeves with other drivers on the road, he explained, "When drivers don't give us enough room to do our jobs. Sometimes we have to straddle a lane. Sometimes we have to get from one side of the lane to the other and they don't like to give us some room."

After seeing a man shoveling his driveway and pushing the snow on the road, Ken stated, "Please don't do that we will push it back. Push it off to the side."

Crews have been working since early Wednesday morning and won't quit until the roads are clear.

Ken added, "I am ready for Spring."
