DETROIT (WXYZ) — Wayne State University's Department of Chemistry will set the world record for the largest periodic table.

The table spans more than three football fields in size and is the result of a collaboration with student chemistry clubs from WSU, UM-Dearborn, UM-Flint, University of Detroit Mercy and Lawrence Tech.

The unveiling will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 23, otherwise known as "Mole Day." Celebrated annually from 6:02 a.m. to 6:02 p.m., Mole Day commemorates "Avogadro's Number," 6.02 x 1023, a basic measuring unit in chemistry.
