DTE reports 40,000 power outages in metro Detroit

(WXYZ) - Severe weather in the area has caused thousands of power outages across metro Detroit.

As of 9:30 p.m., DTE reports approximately 40,000 customers are without power due to the severe weather that moved through metro Detroit.

Most of the outages are affecting Oakland County.

Remaining outages are scattered across southeast Michigan.

DTE crews will be working around the clock to restore service.
