(WXYZ) — A storm system will bring another weekend of windy weather, but this time it’s rain instead of snow across metro Detroit. We faced strong winds a couple weekends ago, but this time it doesn’t look like the winds will not be as severe.

Here’s how the weekend is shaping up:

Saturday: The day will start dry with some sunshine. It will be milder and breezy with highs in the low 40s. Clouds will increase in the afternoon and rain will develop by late afternoon or evening, mainly after 5 PM.

There may be a brief onset of a wintry mix (rain/freezing rain/sleet) before changing to all rain. This mixture should only produce very light accumulations. But, still watch for slick spots on untreated roads and surfaces. Rain showers will move across Lower Michigan from the southwest to the northeast and could be heavy at times during the evening hours. This does look like a soaking rain that has the potential to bring up to .75” of rainfall by early Sunday morning. Temperatures will likely rise or remain steady Saturday night before dropping Sunday as the cold front slides through Metro Detroit.

Sunday: It will be a windy day with temperatures falling back into the 30s to near 40°. A few rain showers will linger during the morning and even an isolated snow showers possible at times on Sunday as temperatures begin to fall.

Southwest winds will increase 20-30 mph with gusts up to 40-45 mph possible. If you're heading to the Corktown St. Patrick’s Day Parade and races, make sure you bundle up! Wind chills will be hovering in the 20s most of the day.
