Westin Book Cadillac workers reached a settlement Saturday with Marriott International.

The hotel posted a message on its Facebook saying in part "our strike came to an end. Thank you everyone who stood with us. This agreement will change workers’ lives and the hotel industry in Detroit."

The strike began October 7 when hotel workers walked off their jobs and picketed outside the building downtown.  They were demanding fair wages, better insurance plans and more.

The Book Cadillac hotel first opened in 1924 and closed in the mid-1980s.

It reopened in 2008 following an extensive $180-million redevelopment.
